We have prepared various help documentation materials to help you use the FlashArch service. If you need help, find the document you want in the list on the right (bottom for mobile).

Service

FlashArch is a flash game and animation archive service launched in 2020. It was started to provide continuous execution through the emulator to replace Adobe Flash Player, which ended support as of December 31, 2020, and to preserve past domestic and foreign Flash materials from being destroyed on the Internet.

Adobe Flash is a multimedia content format that first appeared in 1996. It has been mainly used in web services, and using the Adobe Flash Player plug-in installed on a PC, I was able to run a flash (swf) file in a browser.<br/><br/>It can express dynamic movement on a static web page. It is possible to interact with users using a built-in scripting language called Action Script, and various contents such as games, animations, advertisements, etc. were created.<br/><br/> With the advent of the standard, various security and performance issues for flash began to be raised. Moreover, with the advent of smartphones, Flash was not mobile-friendly, and after debate, it was decided to remove Flash from the web standard. It has been decided to completely discontinue support from players in December 2020. From 2021, Flash can no longer run in modern browsers.<br/><br/>FlashArch has prepared to run Flash from the web without installing plugins to prepare for this. Reproducing the existing flash with an emulator, it solves various performance and security issues.

FlashArch provides Flash domestic/overseas content (games, animations, art, utilities, etc.!) created with Adobe Flash without any limitation in scope. HTML5, Silverlight format content that is not a Flash file is not supported. Shockwave media format is only supported for preservation, but cannot be executed in a web browser.

There are currently 56,291 or more works preserved in the archive. New works are being registered every day, and the more people involved in the project, the faster it will be updated!

NO! Archive access is free now and in the future! (Excluding optional payment such as advertisement or sponsorship)

Currently, the site is maintained through community advertising and sponsorship. It is not a project that is maintained on a revenue-generating basis, so it may require support from a large number of people. If there's no problem, we'll do our best to keep Flash's history!

You can support us financially through sponsorship in the menu below. All sponsored funds will be used for server maintenance. Thank you for your support.

Emulator

Flash runs on the latest web technologies in a web browser using the Ruffle emulator. So there is nothing you need to do to get the flash running!

Please read the article below for best practices to keep Flash running smoothly.

We recommend Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based), and Mozilla FireFox browsers based on PC. We recommend mobile browser apps based on Chromium engine, Google Chrome, Samsung Internet Browser, and Safari.

In general, if the content uses ActionScript 3 (AS3/AVM2), it may not run because the emulator does not support it. ActionScript 3 content will be supported in the near future, and the archive will temporarily limit service until content is supported and stabilized. Thank you for your patience. For more information, please refer to the article below. (Note: Apart from this, if there is no response to the run, it may be a problem with the device specifications.)

The amount of time it takes for the emulator to change the content to a viable state may vary from content to content. Some content may initially load very slowly, and webpages may freeze for a while. In general, if you wait a little, your content will run correctly. Load performance issues are constantly improving.

The emulator is currently under continuous development. Therefore, the behavior is different from the original flash, or some graphics are not displayed properly, but it is expected to be resolved in the near future. Please check the reported issues in'Known Issues' below.

If the crash guide for 'Something went wrong' appears during execution, or if it is slow enough to be impossible, please inform us through 'Report a Problem' at the top. If a crash occurs, the same problem may occur when executing other content. In this case, if you exit the page and refresh the page (F5), you can continue to run other content.

In general, there are no major problems with execution, but some operations may have problems. Originally, Flash execution was optimized for non-mobile PC environments. Therefore, some works that require precise operation of a mouse or keyboard may be difficult to enjoy in a mobile touch environment. Filter only works that do not have a 'keyboard required' icon in the archive to find only works that can be run comfortably on mobile, or connect a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse.

Archive Content

The archive is updated with new works every day, and the works you want may not have been added yet. Request an upload from the community, or upload it directly to the archive so that content can be uploaded quickly!

We are doing our best to service all works, but unfortunately, some works cannot be provided at our discretion due to various reasons. The biggest reason is that the content provider maintains a commercial service, the content itself is a paid service, or a separate request by the original author.

Yes, it is possible! In general, harmful content appears with the thumbnails blinded, but you can hide the harmful content so that it is not visible at all in your account settings (subscription required). Similarly, you can also turn off automatic thumbnail blinds.

If you send us the problem situation through 'Report Problem' in the top menu, we will process it after confirmation. (If the information is incorrect, please let us know in detail what needs to be corrected.) It may take time to run or troubleshoot behavior related issues.

If you use the Favorites feature, you can easily access only the content you find frequently. Click the star icon at the top of Flash content to register it as a favorite. (A site account is required.)

Due to site traffic cost issues and policy issues, we do not provide content downloads. Please understand this.

Use Archive

Archive is a space where flash content is collected and preserved. Here you can easily search for the content you want, and launch it with one click.

Thank you for participating in the completion of the archive. After becoming a FlashArch member first, you can register your content by following the instructions at the link below! (Before uploading, be sure to read the archive upload guidelines carefully.)

Yes, it is possible! FlashArch puts no restrictions on individuals, companies, users who can be uploaded, and more!

Content information can be edited freely until the archive manager's approval. During the approval process, the administrator can arbitrarily modify the uploaded content according to the archive upload guidelines to provide correct information. After approval, you can only request corrections through 'Report a Problem', and content cannot be deleted after uploading unless it meets the criteria for stopping provision.

Yes, it is possible! Private uploads are personally developed content and are only allowed for private or personal preservation purposes. Any content that has been publicly disclosed or harmful anywhere on the web cannot be uploaded privately.

Harmful content can be uploaded after displaying an appropriate warning as long as it does not exceed the legal limits of the Republic of Korea. The same goes for adult content. However, be sure to read the document below. Artworks that exceed the limit may not be serviced and account may be restricted.

Application

The FlashArch application installs as an app on your PC or mobile, and lets you run local Flash (SWF) files without the archive upload process. It also provides an environment where you can easily access and play archives.

The FlashArch application is currently available on PC (Windows, macOS), and mobile (iOS, Android) will be available later.

To install and run the application, a 64-bit Windows 8.1 or higher, macOS 10.14 or higher OS is required for a PC. Mobile specs usually don't need to be concerned if they can be installed within the app store.

FlashArch application is secure for security and does not use system privileges other than network access (access to archive page and check for updates). During download or installation, it may be temporarily blocked by Windows Smart Screen or anti-virus, but there is no problem with security, so you can continue installing by setting exceptions or allowing downloads.

Account & Others

When you create a FlashArch account, you can use various services such as community participation, detailed player settings, kids mode and content filtering settings, and favorites.

Verification emails arrive in at least 5 minutes to 1 hour. It will be sent to the email account you created when signing up. Please check if you have entered an error or if an email has arrived in the spam box. If the problem still occurs, please contact the administrator.

If you deactivate your account, you will not be able to access the site with that account, and all activity will be deactivated. Go to the account deactivation page below to learn how to deactivate it.

We hope you can solve your problems by browsing the Discord channel, the FlashArch wiki, and the community. Or, if you leave an email to [email protected], we will respond after confirmation.
